I few years ago I had a late life onset (45) episode of psychosis. Dr’s were baffled that this would come on me at this time in my life. And since that episode I had two more where I also needed hospitalization. Now I am on meds, stable, and doing well, back to work, etc. The question is this. Since that time, I have been to many dr’s, therapist, etc. but it seems no one really understands much about psychosis and what it is all about. Ive never had a decent explanation by a dr or therapist, let alone met anyone who seemed to understand what I went through. All they did was discharge me with the DX Psychosis unspecified. Which means they didnt know what caused it and I sure as heck dont know what happened. But I do and always have had a strong faith in God. At the time I was with a very evil man, my ex husband who was abusive. It was after he was out of the picture and i was on meds that all became stable again. But you know I was so severe at one point I was catatonic. The things I saw, only God knows, but they were all about the spiritual realm. A dark voice gave me commands, telling me lies, wanting me to hurt myself. I saw bodies of people who had hung them-self while at the hospital. I saw demons and angels. I even felt God’s love, heard him speak to me intimately, and perform miracles for me to show me he loved me and was near. I got to know God in a way I never have before, realized how great a sense of humor He has, He shared a secret that all love poems and songs ever created were by Him for His Bride. Also, that animals can sometimes be angels and we don’t know it. Anyways, I saw terrible things, only God knows. I sometimes wonder if it was not all in my head, it felt so real and eternal. Time changed during that period, my experience of time was sometimes slow, other times fast. I wonder how much it was the Devil trying to destroy me (have me kill myself) and God trying to rescue me (I didn’t succeed). Just wondering if any or all of this was somehow a large spiritual battle not just in my head.
