Do you commit a sin of detraction if you sharing your opinions on politics, political figures, non-political public figures, or basically anything that one might consider news (not personal information like did you know that Joe down the block is a drunk)? In conversations like this you might share news articles or information that other people might not know that could shape their opinion on the person/topic you’re talking about.

I have read the other current thread on detraction and read the linked Jimmy Akin article on it. From my understanding on that thread, the situation I described (sharing news/information that others might not know and might shape opinions) may be sinful in the personal realm, but I’m still unclear about the public realm.
