Public Transit on Sunday

I’m not sure under what category I should be posting this, but I think it fits under “Moral Theology” although it is not necessarily apologetics.

I know that, as Catholics, we are obliged to avoid unnecessary work on Sundays, but is public transit a necessary service? I do not want to ride a bus on Sunday if the bus driver is wrongly being made to work on Sunday.

Please note that riding a bus is not necessary for me to fulfill my Sunday obligation of attending Mass.

No, riding public transportation on Sunday is not wrong and neither is taking a long walk.

Sounds like maybe you need some spiritual guidance from your pastor on this subject. Talk to your priest.

Thank you for your advice. I will probably pay a visit my school’s Catholic chaplain this week.

“Traditional activities (sport, restaurants, etc.), and social necessities (public services, etc.), require some people to work on Sundays”

this is a public service…so no worries…
