Would believing you’d have a stay in purgatory show a lack of trust in the mercy of God?
Dear friend, purgatory exists even if some say it doesn’t, just as London wouldn’t disappear even if someone wouldn’t believe it existed.Assuming that you believe in purgatory, why would it?
My question was: Would it be a lack of trust in Jesus’ mercy, not to believe you could become so holy by His grace you could go straight to heaven? So what’s your question then?
No. God’s mercy is allowing us to be saved from the fires of hell. Purgatory is more or less a cleaning up. If you are in a state of grace, you can obtain a plenery indulgence every day for yourself. Or you can donate it to the holy souls in purgatory.Would believing you’d have a stay in purgatory show a lack of trust in the mercy of God?
it would show belief in the doctrine of purgatory and a clearer understanding of sin and its consequences than a blind reliance on God’s mercy that would be used to justify any sin you feel like committing.Would believing you’d have a stay in purgatory show a lack of trust in the mercy of God?
