Does the actual term “purgatory” exist in scripture ?

Hi,

Do you believe in the Trinity or the Incarnation? If so, please tell me where you find those words in the Bible. Also, please tell me where the Bible says that all truth must be found in the Bible.

Do you believe in re-incarnation, or buddhism, or the prophet mohammud then, which do not appear in scripture either ? If purgatory was such an important place, Jesus would have mentioned it.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for ** doctrine**, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

First, you are misusing the verse. It says “All Scripture” but you are twisting it to say “Only Scripture.”

Second, no, I do not believe in re-incarnation or Buddhism because the Church, which is the pillar and support of the truth (1 Tim 3:15), does not teach it as true. Please take a close look at that verse. It is the Church, not the Bible, which is the pillar and support of the truth. This does not mean that the Bible is not true, it is.

You did not answer my question. You claim that if Purgatory was so important, Jesus would have spoken about it. How do you know He didn’t. John writes that there are many things that Jesus said and did that are not included in Scripture. As I pointed out, the words Trinity and Incarnation are also not found in the Bible. Do you consider these truths unimportant?

Who decides what is Scripture and what is not? The Bible has no list of contents. The Trinity is never mentioned in the Bible, nor is the deity of the Holy Spirit; yet you believe in them.

An equally-valid translation of the Greek in context is, “All scripture that is inspired by God…”, which makes it even more painfully obvious than it already was that some authority must decide what is and is not Scripture. The New Testament wasn’t considered Scripture until well after the end of the Apostolic age - how is that for the Great Apostasy for you?

How did Christianity overthrow the Roman empire without a New Testament canon, without wide availability of Scripture, with oral preaching of the traditions - not “reading the book” - and while using the Septuagint OT, which contains the “apocrypha”, the entire time?

Only the most wealthy churches and monasteries could afford a full Bible until the invention of the movable type press by Gutenberg. And, even after that point, literacy was minimal, in both native tongues and Latin. Sola scriptura wasn’t even conceived of until 1520!

Sola scripturists… absurd.
