Yes, they would; they are saved first by belief in a and faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism is a part of the salvation plan. How about this, sort of what Richard asked, "If baptism is for giveness of sins(including original sin), then why did God bother sending His Only Begotten Son? Wouldn’t that mean that all those baptized by John the Baptist were forgiven? What if someone says,“Just baptize me, and I’ll be safe!”

Okay then Ib I understand you do not except Catholic teaching, and thats okay. But if Catholic teaching is not correct to you how to you explain the scripture that says one baptism for forgiveness of sins. And why can you only be baptised once?

Ib I have asked you before but you never answered me. Do you reject original sin, If you do, why are we not in the garden of eden? Were we brought into this world with sin or not?
Which scripture are you quoting, and are you reading it out of context? I do not dismiss original sin; I know that ALL who followed Adam and Eve, were cursed(All have sinned and fallen short). But you see, I believe that when Christ died on the Cross, ALL sin(including original sin) was forgiven! So, your argument in favor of baptism forgiving sins, is shaky. Were the sins of the Ethiopian eunuch forgiven before or after Phillip baptized him?

This is quite true.

This is were you go wrong. Baptism forgives nothing. Baptism has no power at all to wash us from our sins.

1Cor.6:11And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

We are washed from our sins in the blood of the Lamb of God.

Rev.1:4John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;
5And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Baptism is our announcement to the world that we have been washed in the blood of the Lamb.
But Kastner washed in the blood of the lamb for what. Our sins or not?

Amen. If we don’t repent before we are baptised all we do is come up a wet sinner.

Um Ib let me give you a heads up here:D He was rejoicing after he was Baptised not before. What would be your guess here.

But Glad you brought up this scripture. Did you catch what the eumuch said. He did not understand what Stepen was reading. How can I he said unless I have someone to instruct me. Sounds like Catholic teaching to me.

What makes you think you or I can understand more then the eumuch? Who instructs you Ib are you going to say the HS instructs you in teaching? If so why would the HS instruct you but the the eumuch then? BIG BIG BIG teaching there!!

How was it forgiven, are you saying by Jesus’ death on the cross he saved all who reject him, and refuse to be Baptised in him? So then the devils gettting in right? And rather you are baptised or not as long as Jesus died on the cross sins are forgiven for all right???

Because read it again thats what you said?

My goodness rinnie I don’t know how many ways I can post the same thing so that you get it. Rev.1: 5And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and **washed us from our sins in his own blood, **

If you take the emboldened part of Rev.1:5 above you get:** Jesus Christ washed us from our sins in his own blood. **This is how we are cleansed from our sins, not through baptism. That is not to say that baptism is not important, it is because it is our proclamation to the world that we have been washed in the blood of the Lamb.

Romans 10: 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Richard,

That letter was written to the Romans, all of whom had already been baptized (Chapter 6).

It is important that we understand the historically intended audience of these letters. That letter was not written to you.

Are you seriously contending that this is not for the gentile. So when Paul says “9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” He is talking to Romans only and these Romans are the only ones that are saved by this confession of faith. Everyone else is saved by getting themseves baptised? Also if these Romans are all baptised why is Paul telling them the method of salvation? Wouldn’t that have already been taken care of? Another thing, the whole bible is written to me and to you. Say this letter to the Romans was written to just the Romans. Why include it in the bible at all? If it has no relevance to us why would God include it? If this post is not a joke dnu, I think that you have some serious soul searching to do. We are saved by faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ period. If you think anything else, you need to come to Him and He will change you.

Jn. 3:16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The early Church clearly believed in purgatory. In 1 Cor 15:29 it says this " Otherwise, what do people mean by being baptized on behalf of the dead. If the dead are not raised at all, whay are people baptized on their behalf?"

This clearly shows a practice of doing something for the dead. If they only believed in heaven and hell, this verse makes no sense. St, Paul does not say this is wrong. Clearly this practice was not continued in the early Church but it does show that doing something for the dead was considered a good thing.
Praying for the dead was also a practice and we see St. Paul himself prays for his friend Onesiphorus in 2 Tim 1:16-18 “may the Lord grant to find mercy from the Lord on that Day”. If Onesiphorus is still alive, this verse makes no sense.

1 Cor 3:15 tells us we will be saved but only “as through fire”. A clear reference to purgatory.
The Apostle Paul wasn’t making a Doctrine of “Baptism gor the dead”, He was just stating to does who did practise it, That was would be a waste of time if there was no ressurection from the dead.

Your thinking on 2 Tim 1: 16–18, is wrong, Paul expected the Lord to come back soon.
The Greek meaning of, “That day” is the judgement day.

Also please note,The Greek Bible scholors all agree 1 Cor 3: 15, means, The people who’s works will be burned up will just about make it into heaven, also please note, There is no mention of purification or purgatory in this verse.

Well I guess you’re not going to answer my question. So I don’t guess i’ll answer yours.
Richard, Yes I will be happy to answer your quesyion if I know what it was,it may have been one I missed, can you please ask again, now you can answer my question and then I can answer you question, does that word for you

Yes if we have the opporunity
Good, now why are we doing that tweety? Is not one baptism for the forgiveness for original sin, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit!

That is why it is ONE Baptism for the forgiveness of sin. Once you are baptised you have been cleansed of original sin, you can never commit it again. ITs why Jesus died and paid for that sin, in baptism once and for all.

Even many protestatants see this, but they are confused on actual sin and original, they do not understand we cannot ever conmit OS again but we can fall from that grace given in Baptism through actual sin. Thats the big gap in our belief.🤷

:eek:I can’t believe you said that Ib. Did you not understand that by the baptism of Jesus came the outpouring of the Holy Spirit?
