I am a new Catholic, since June 2005. I was doing fine until this past November, the month of departed souls. What I learned of purgatory horrified me. I am also a child of divorce. Few know the anguish I have experienced. Gracious God, Holy Ghost, healed me of that extremely painful and deep torn-apart aspect of divorce. I was in terrible pain for most of my life. Since November, I have been feeling this anguish again over purgatory. My experience of God has been Love and Mercy and Healing. Does Jesus really judge us harshly and throw us to the devil until we are perfect enough for heaven? How can this be? I’m not so articulate in speaking. Writing works better for me. I don’t feel comfortable asking about this at my Traditional Catholic Church, because of the child of divorce anguish that is not understandable to most. I want to give myself wholely and without question to Precious Mary and Her Son, Jesus, and to Our Father, and to the Holy Ghost. But, I have such distrust over purgatory. I have been betrayed much by people. I do not give my trust easily.
Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated. Is this something I need to go to confession about? I’m so confused.
