What does a priest do with the purificator cloth once it’s been used?

It is set aside for pretreatment rinsing then it is laundered.

Hi,

It is put with the other altar linens to be laundered in a special manner.

First it is rinsed in clear water which is poured into a sequarium or other place which goes directly into the ground in a place out of normal walking area.

Then it can be laundered in a more usual manner. I believe it still should be laundred in a separate batch without any other kind of laundry.

What does a priest do with the purificator cloth once it’s been used?

It is rinsed with warm water in a special sink called the sacrarium; the water in this sink goes straight into the ground, not into the sewer system. This rinsing collects whatever may remain of the sacred species (droplets of the Precious Blood and crumbs of the Host) in the purificator and returns it to the earth. Then the purificator can be laundered normally.

Sorry for the spelling error, but I don’t think all the members of the altar society rinse the linens in Church before taking them home to launder.
