Why at the age of 15, with so many life possibilities in front of you, do you want to become a monk?
Some people have different interests and it’s not like life in the world is special or anything.

A friar is more involved in society. Living to help others kind of like Jesus. Monks live the more secluded, contemplative life. They fulfill the “In the world but not of it” sort of thing.

Yes I’m active in the youth group.

I have thought about college, but you don’t really need it to be a monk. It builds debt and you can’t leave the world and take a vow of poverty with a debt. It’s against the rules I believe. So I’ve come to the conclusion that it is counterproductive for me and hopes for a backdoor can be written off as worldly concerns.

& which appeals to you?

Any particular aspect appeal to you? For now, this is your path to the religious life. Follow it, prayerfully. See where it goes.

Don’t write it off just yet. Your goal should be to be the best you you can be. To serve the Lord our God to the best of your ability. Lots of good Catholic schools out ther.

Think about seminary?

Are you familiar with Father Groescel?
