If you can’t see yourself committing the sins you come across in the Bible, it’s because you haven’t understood them properly.” I came across this phrase twice this week in two different books. What really puts it into perspective, I’m reading the Book of Numbers right now, too. I think of all the grumblings, the idol worshipping, the attempted usurptions (sic?) of power, and I think “”!!!

Think about this as we come up on Holy Week.

I just heard a talk by Christopher West. He said we only need the commandments that our will is not conformed to. For example, I have no desire or even could imagine murdering a person. In that case, my will is conformed to the law. I don’t necessarily need that commandment to prevent the sin. However, I do need the commandment third commandment because there are many Sundays when going to Mass seems onerous.

He said if you want to know where you need to grow in virtue, determine which commandments you still need.

I thought that was interesting.
