Jon & stbruderklaus,
Hello.
I agree to both of you when it comes to having dialogues, esp within and among protestant churches, that each one must be treated equally. Sure.
But as a RC I’m talking about dialogues not only with the Lutheran church but also reaching out to other non-Christian groups which in this case are like “sick people that need to be healed” because their doctrines are so contorted (I hope you agree

).
Matthew 5:xx RSV “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. 15 Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
That light is the Catholic Church.
We are to re-kindle that light, to re-iterate that there is absolute truth. In your case, you may not be as ‘unenlightened’ as they are!
Ephesians 5:xx RSV " 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for it is because of these things that the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not associate with them, 8 for once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), 10 and try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. 12 For it is a shame even to speak of the things that they do in secret; 13 but when anything is exposed by the light it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. 14 Therefore it is said, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light.”
Also, it really doesn’t matter what form of dialogues can be agreed between the parties. As I have said, it should not stop there and say we have come to a ‘unified’ result.
Whatever discussions may be covered or arguments may be encountered it should result only to one thing, it may not be immediate, but still - to CONVERSION.
I will be on the road again. Have a good day gentlemen…
Peace.
