Good morning,

I am having a hard difficult time with putting my dog down. My dog has been in my life for 7 years. I have cared and treated him very well. I got my dog when I lost my son and we have been through lots together including a separation. I have always fed my dog holistic food and given him the best quality of life. I found out a year ago come June he has diabetes… This crushed me as he is my best friend…I love him unconditionally. Thank the Lord that I had pet insurance. It has cost me over 13,000.00 in Vet bills again I have pet insurance so I was responsible for 10 percent as they cover 90. To this day he is not regulated and now has Cushing’s disease along with cholesterol and barking episodes… The one thing that they could not answer was why he wasn’t going blind as all dogs go blind in the first few months. Well, now its a few months later and my dog is going blind. I know he seems okay however; just to look at him breaks my heart. I am finding it hard to put him down and feel awful and selfish as I know it will break my heart. I feel cowardly and should be strong and thinking about him. Please pray for guidance and strength. Also, has anyone done research or know if dogs go to heaven?

My dear one, I have been there many times. My heart goes out to you. We want to do what’s best for our loved one, yet to be separated from them is the hardest thing to do.

I don’t know if our pets go to heaven but, for myself, I tell myself they do. How can a loving, merciful God not let something we love so deeply not be with us into eternity?

You’ve given your baby such a good life and only you can make the final decision. I pray you are given strength beyond means.

Dear Heavenly Father, hear our prayers ❤️

Saint Francis of Assisi, for our Animal Friends:

Heavenly Father, our human ties with our friends of other species is wonderful and special gift from You. We now ask You to grant our special animal companions your Fatherly care and healing power to take away any suffering they have. Give us, their human friends, new understanding of our responsibilities to these creatures of Yours. They have trust in us as we have in You; our souls and theirs are on this earth together to give one another friendship, affection, and caring. Take our heartfelt prayers and fill Your ill or suffering animals with healing Light and strength to overcome whatever weakness of body they have.

I pray for Von55’s beloved doggie

Your goodness is turned upon every living thing and Your grace flows to all Your creatures. From our souls to theirs goodness flows, touching each of us with the reflection of Your love. Grant to our special animal companions long and healthy lives. Give them good relationships with us, and if You see fit to take them from us, help us to understand that they are not gone from us, but only drawing closer to You. Grant our prayer through the intercession of good St. Francis of Assisi, who honored You through all Your creatures. Give him the power to watch over our animal friends until they are safely with You in eternity, where we someday hope to join them in giving You honor forever. Amen.

The litmus test I use with my pets is “are they still happy?” An animal can often be suffering and yet still be happy to be alive. I’ve had several pets with long term illnesses- kidney disease, cancer, incontinence and diabetes- and as long as they still seem happy, still eat and drink on their own, etc. I am willing to do what it takes. If that means cleaning up the occasional mess, giving subcutaneous fluids or daily shots, etc. then that’s what I do. But at the point where they clearly are not enjoying life any longer, that’s when I take them down and help them to cross over the rainbow bridge.

I will pray for you and your pet that you’ll know when the right time is.

God bless you.

I pray that you do the right thing for your pet.

Dear Lord we thank you for bringing this pet into Von’s life. Lord we also thank You for designing that pet to be a comfort for Von.

Give Von the strength to make the right decision, for the glory of Your Holy Name.

Lord, Giver of all good gifts, we thank you for giving pets to us, and trust You totally.

Wow… I am so sorry for you. I know what it is like to have to put a pet down. We had a cat who had diabetes, and we were able to manage it for a few years, but then it just became miserable for her. We also had another cat who had cancer, and we took her to a specialist and had chemo treatment for her and she eventually died. I really regret that we didn’t put her down as I know she was not having any fun at the end and she lost so much weight.

There is no right answer for you, and I know that you know that. I will pray that the Holy Spirit will help you.

I am so sorry. I just went through this in Feb and the pain is still with me.

Christ has promised to come to judge the living and the dead. There will be a new heaven and a new earth after this, and we cannot imagine what God will have in store for us then. Until then, have hope in the mercy and kindness of God’s love. People will say that there are no pets in heaven, which may very well be true, but we wait for the coming of Christ and what is yet to be revealed.

When I was at the animal hospital and the vet was waiting on us to proceed, I slowly prayed the Our Father and Hail Mary. The grace of God gave me the strength and it calmed me greatly. I felt the change of heart beat and breathing. I could be there during her last moments with calmness for her. I was absolutely smitten with this dog, she was such a blessing and joy, especially during these very difficult moments we must go through in life. Know that it’s a privilege to see them off, and a great act of mercy, that you can offer to God the Father, in union with the infinite merits of Christ, for the salvation of souls. I said that day to God that I have something today to offer you. We enjoy so many blessings each day and are on the receiving end, but sometimes a very great grief will be ours. We can be generous and use it for souls and to come closer to God. He’s the one who blessed you with your pet, and you are just returning him to God for a short time. Remember to be thankful every day to God that He gave you this very special blessing, just for you. He will carry you through this.

Divine Mercy of God, be with our friend today and the days ahead.

I am so sorry you are going through this. I had to put my 9 year old cat down just 2 months ago. She was my whole life and had my entire heart. I have been weeping ever since. It is not easy, but it was because I loved her with my whole heart, that I held her in my arms as the vet put her down.

About a month before she died–she wasn’t even sick at that point–I woke up and found her sleeping on my pillow. I said to her, ‘‘Wait for me in Heaven, baby.’’ At the time, I didn’t know why I said it, but now I know. I do know she’s waiting for me there.

Please feel free to PM me if you’d like.

My sincerest sympathy,

Simca.

Praying for you and your pet.

If it helps: I’m reminded of the part of the Genesis story where humans are given dominion over the living creatures.

Read “Heaven is for Real”
Colton saw animals in Heaven.

I.have.asked.God.that all my pets will be in Heaven.

I KNOW God will do this.

Also

I.read of a NDE where an old man saw one of his deceased dogs, and could pat him, as he neared death during an experience.

I BELIEVE.

Please be strong!! We will pray for you…

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

I believe animals will be in Heaven. God created them and they have the breath of life too according to genesis.

I am sorry to hear this. it is always hard going through this. I would spend time with him and I would put him down so he does not suffer any more. He will see his family in heaven and you when you go. He will be much happier there than here.

My prayers go out to you for wisdom, guidance, and comfort. Our pets mean a lot to us and exhibit such love and acceptance for us. They become part of the family and it’s always very sad when it’s time to say goodbye. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Von55.

The most important question to ask yourself before you make this decision is whether your animal is still somewhat enjoying life. If so, then wait. On the other hand, if your dog is suffering a lot, then the most humane thing to do would be to put the dog down.

As for animals going to heaven, we’ll find out if, please God, we ourselves get there. There have been theological opinions about whether they do or not, but no one knows for sure and certain.

Praying for you. Many here I am sure have been in the position you find yourself in. It is not an easy one.

Aw dont put it down 😦 … I know I dont understand 100% what suffering the dog is going through but im so sad there isnt another possibility … God Bless you

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Amen. †

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the Fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death.

Amen. †

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle,
be our defense against the wickedness and snares
of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray.
And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the
power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other
evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen. †

St. Thérèse of Liseux Prayer From “Story of A Soul”

May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received,
and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing you are a child of God.
Let this presence settle into your bones,
and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise, and love.
It is there for each and every one of us.

Amen. †

Lord, thank you that you are with me right now.
Your love surpasses all fear.
I give you the anxiety I feel.
I surrender all my worries to you.
Clear my mind;
Calm my heart;
Still my Spirit;
Relax my being, that, I may
always glorify you in everything
I write, speak and do.

Amen. †
