Hmmm, sounds reasonable…yet the ones I have seen conform to what I have said. Also the Priest, who places Our Lord in my Pyx every so often for a sick family member, says nothing. Hmmmm. Also another Pyx, almost exactly like the “rosary holder” which we bought for an acolyte friend is exactly like mine, save for the seal which has a picture of St Peter’s square, not John Paul II. His priest hasn’t complained either and that guys a real traddy.
As I say, things may be different Down Under, or I may be mistaken. In any case (heh), as I believe you have already agreed above, now that this vessel has been used as a pyx, it ought not be used for other purposes.

It’s not easy to find an image of the interior of a pyx on the web, but a couple are here Cast Pyx and here Bowl Pyx or this one you can peek in at St Agnes Cathedral, Rockville Centre NY

(Be careful if you go searching for such images, you can find goofy stuff too. For instance this Anglican “combination compact and pyx” “ready for a night out on the town, an emergency hospital visit, or a pastoral call at the local watering hole” )

(To its credit, that page **does **admit to “pushing the boundaries” but still  )

It is blessed, and they usually come with a little purse thing that hangs around the neck.
BTW, the “little purse thing” is typically known as a **“burse” **-- I knew this even before Googling for pyxes, but neglected to follow-up.

(And, yes, the folder/envelope/pocket-thingy that a folded corporal may be placed into is also called a “burse” – The word is an old fashioned alternate form of “purse”)
