I would like to move up from the single book Christian Prayer to a multi-volume set and am seeking recommendations.

I’m asking about book quality and not versions or language. Is there something out there of better quality than the four volume set by St. Joe’s/Catholic Book Publising? I tend to be rough on equipment and tear up their glued products.

Your recommendations on a high quality, sewn binding, leather or hardcover set containing the current version of the prayers in US English would be great.

It depends on if you wish to stick with the approved texts or to deviate from the actual Liturgy into a more private devotion.

I’ve had the leather Catholic Book Publishing 4-volume set for 8 or 9 years, and it’s like new – just a little bit of care needed. It may be $40 or $50 more than the vinyl-bound set.

I am interested in that leather bound set but was wondering if the binding is sewn or glued. Do you know?

It appears to be sewn. I have the real leather set too. I’m pretty happy with the quality of the volumes. I’ve just had them for about a year, though.
Any set you get, though, you might want to get extra ribbons! 5 just isn’t enough if you’re praying all the hours every day.

I checked my set, and I thought I could see signs of threads through the end pages - I know what “signatures” are in bookbinding, and I believe the spine shows that the pages are sets of assembled sewn signatures.
