If you really want to follow that law, then go right on ahead, if you can. But you won’t obtain life by it. And you won’t even be able to fulfill it. And you will have NO PART in Christ.
John 13:8 Peter saith to him: Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him: If I wash thee not, thou shalt have no part with me.

I really can’t see the connection in the above. When we say LAW what exactly are we arguing about. I support the book of Deut. which has the laws and rules for a just society. So what is wrong with that ?

You got a problem with the ten commandments ?
The problem is, basically, whose authority we are following.

All Catholics, to be Catholic, claim the Pope as God’s authority on earth, in the Roman Catholic Church, which has miraculously survived these past 2000 years, for our salvation.

So anything you say or claim that contradicts the definitive statements of this Church, must be rejected by default.

I think it is commendable, in a generic way, that you are seeking the truth. I am willing to listen to you, and have shared how what you hold contrasts with Church teaching as I know it.

I don’t have any leverage to help you out of your error since you do not accept God’s authority where His Church says it must be accepted. You have already accepted a different authority, for whatever reason. I am not sure what it is. But it is certainly not the Catholic Church, no matter how close some of your beliefs might come.

The Church keeps an open invitation to all to accept her authority and protection given by Jesus Christ the Son God, who was born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried, and rose again on the third day in fulfillment of the scriptures. She proclaims we will be judged by this same Jesus when He comes again. And His Kingdom will have no end.

Oh why are you claiming on your own authority that you believe all you need to believe for your salvation, for then you put the burden on yourself to save yourself. Do you really trust yourself that much?

Just as the queen mother in the Davidic dynasty held the highest position of honor and influence, second only to the king, so too does Mary as the new queen mother hold a preeminent position in the new kingdom, second only to Christ.

In the monarchy of King David, as well as in other ancient kingdoms of the Near East, the mother of the ruling king held an important office in the royal court and most subjects who wished a favor from the King, went to the Queen Mother, rather than the King himself. She presented their petitions to the King. Mary continues to do the same. That is why we ask for her intercession, and honor her as Queen Mother.

“So Bathsheba went to King Solomon, to speak to him on behalf of Adonijah. And the king rose to meet her, and bowed down to her; then he sat on his throne and had a seat brought for the king’s mother; and she sat on his right. Then she said, ‘I have one small request to make of you; do not refuse me.’ And the king said to her, ‘Make your request, my mother; for I will not refuse you’” (1 Kgs. 2:19–20).
Re-run, but thanks guys for finally letting the rest of us to get us back to the subject at hand. 🙂

In order to save this thread from being closed for wandering from the OPs topic, which was admitted by many of you later on, I went through and pruned this thread to keep it on topic and allow it to continue.

My apologies to those whose posts were casualties, as there were some interesting points on them concerning other topics and I do hope that you guys open another thread to get into them.

God Bless,
Michael Francis

While seeing Mary as the New Testament Gebirah is a valid argument in favor of Mary’s queenship, I think that it is important that, while speaking to Protestants, we explain Mary’s queenship within the broader context of the royal dignity of the Christian people. Once we have explained that all of us will “reign with” Christ is we perservere in our faith, Mary’s queenship will make more sense. She will not seem as if she were some kind of demi-god. Once this fact has been establihed, then the Gebirah argument can be used to show her preeminenc.

God Bless
