BM5:
If you really want to follow that law, then go right on ahead, if you can. But you won’t obtain life by it. And you won’t even be able to fulfill it. And you will have NO PART in Christ.
John 13:8 Peter saith to him: Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him: If I wash thee not, thou shalt have no part with me.
I really can’t see the connection in the above. When we say LAW what exactly are we arguing about. I support the book of Deut. which has the laws and rules for a just society. So what is wrong with that ?
You got a problem with the ten commandments ?
The problem is, basically, whose authority we are following.
All Catholics, to be Catholic, claim the Pope as God’s authority on earth, in the Roman Catholic Church, which has miraculously survived these past 2000 years, for our salvation.
So anything you say or claim that contradicts the definitive statements of this Church, must be rejected by default.
I think it is commendable, in a generic way, that you are seeking the truth. I am willing to listen to you, and have shared how what you hold contrasts with Church teaching as I know it.
I don’t have any leverage to help you out of your error since you do not accept God’s authority where His Church says it must be accepted. You have already accepted a different authority, for whatever reason. I am not sure what it is. But it is certainly not the Catholic Church, no matter how close some of your beliefs might come.
The Church keeps an open invitation to all to accept her authority and protection given by Jesus Christ the Son God, who was born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried, and rose again on the third day in fulfillment of the scriptures. She proclaims we will be judged by this same Jesus when He comes again. And His Kingdom will have no end.
Oh why are you claiming on your own authority that you believe all you need to believe for your salvation, for then you put the burden on yourself to save yourself. Do you really trust yourself that much?
