Is it TOTALLY FINE to request a novena of masses (at a local parish or
anywhere else) for a pressing need in my life (i.e to find a suitable
job)
I am skeptical for the reason that I feel it is like bribing the God to gain some personal favour.

It is indeed totally fine to do so. You’re no more “bribing” God than you would be by otherwise asking for prayers. Any money offered for Masses said is not to buy Masses or to buy grace, as this would be simony. Rather, it’s to compensate the priest for his time. Think of it like a tip, almost. It’s not even required of one making the request, although it is a common courtesy.

Your best bet is to inquire at a retreat house or monastery.
The parishes almost never have a block of Masses available, nor would ours even consider it for a single person. We are booked well into next year, and people come every day with requests.

I am from India where we have a surplus of priests!
