There is a game I would really love to play. I used to play it a while ago and I want to buy the new version. The thing is: there is an introductory scene with some bikers in a route and one limousine, and one of the bikers jumps with the bike from behind the limousine, “flies” above it and falls just over the statue of a cherubim in the front of the limousine, crushing it. Maybe some know the game I am speaking of, it is Full Throttle, a game by Lucasarts. You can search for it in youtube and maybe watch the scene by yourself. My question is: would it be morally acceptable to buy this game? It’s not a statue of Jesus or the Virgin. But it’s still not very pious. But the game itself is not very anti-catholic since there is a “biker priest” in the game 😉

In general there are no hard and fast rules for video games. Except for M ratings, there often isn’t a good way to discern if they are “good” or not because the play can vary from person to person.

Not only that but what is OK for one person may scandalize another. If seeing a flying statue bothers you, it would be best not to play. If you can handle a bit of wanton destruction for the sake of a game than you’re fine. What the statue is representing has little bearing on the matter because it’s a digital pixel of statue and not even a real (fake) person.
