Question about a troubled dream. need help

Hello everybody. Recently in my life things have not been going very well and I had a weak moment in one of my dreams. During my dream I was walking along a river in the woods when I came upon an opening with a building that I thougyt was a barn. As I looked inside I could tell that there was a pool with stadium seating on either side which I thought was weird. Anyways, on the balcony I noticed a man in a white suit with blond hair and blue eyes. As I neared he motioned for me to come sit next to him and so I did. I didn’t feel like he would harm me. He said hello and I asked who he was. He replied, “don’t you already know?” I gaped at him and thought for a second then said, “you are Lucifer.” He said very good and said lets talk David. We ended up talking for hours and he was extremely kind and asked how my ljfe was. At the end of the conversation he said that he had a very important question for me. He asked me to be his second in command. For what I didn’t know but I respectfuloy declined his offer. He then said ok and said until our next meeting. The next dream I had we again met up in the same place. He then asked me again but this time I accepted. He then pushed me into the pool and as I came up he said welcome brother. Why I don’t know. Ever since then I’ve been experiencing some weird occurances. For one, I’ve noticed my night vision has improved as it takes less time to adjust than usual. I can see better in the dark than most people, although I’ve been able to see in the dark well all my life. My hearing has somehow improved so I can hear higher frequencies better and my sence of smell is going crazy. I can usually smell things a lot quicker than a lot of people I know and from a lot farther away. I’m wondering if I’ve done something that’s irreversible and can’t be fixed. Please respond as soon as possible. THANK YOU

No, it’s not irreversible.

Speak to your spiritual advisor. If you don’t have one, speak to your priest.

Yes. Explain this in detail to your priest and confess this. Even though you might not be fully culpable, since it’s a dream, you need to nip this in the bud ASAP before things get bad, if it’s not your imagination. I’d err on the side of caution with this one.
 
First off, you cannot fully assent to anything in a dream. It’s not full consciousness. Dreams don’t count.

Second, heightened senses can result from all sorts of natural causes. Your night vision can get better if you eat more Vitamin A, for example. You can also have a perception of having heightened senses from all sorts of natural causes. (Some drugs do that, for instance, and some illnesses.) So that’s not anything to feel too worried about, unless it’s making life hard for you. It may be entirely coincidental. Don’t let yourself be tricked by illusions of woowoo power, when you may just be paying more attention. Consider seeing a doctor if it persists. (I hope you’re not coming down with the flu.)

Third, whether that was just a recurring dream or something more serious, I also think you should talk to a priest or other spiritual advisor as soon as possible. You are feeling worried by this and think something is wrong. Well, if you felt ill, you’d go to a doctor and find out what was going on. Same thing with going to see a priest about this. It’s part of what they’re there for.

In the meantime, don’t worry yourself sick about it. The devil loves to trick people into thinking they’re horrible people when they’re not, or that they’ve placed themselves beyond mercy when they haven’t (which nobody could manage if they tried). Similarly, our minds and bodies love to work themselves up more and more about stuff that worries them. Think of it as just one of those weird things that happens, and leave the worries to your spiritual advisor. He’ll know better whether there’s anything worth worrying about.

Trust in God, don’t be afraid; and go see somebody about it. That’s my advice.
 
Apparently, you’re not the only one in Christian history to be troubled by bad dreams. 🙂 One of the old hymns for evening prayer includes a prayer against bad dreams, I know. But I just came across another old hymn, which is just about bad dreams and nothing else. Please take notice of the recommended remedy! 🙂

Anyway, the original hymn was called “Cultor Dei, Memento” (Worshipper of God/Carer for God, Remember). It was by the great early Christian poet Prudentius, who was a lawyer from Spain. This translation was by Judge Daniel Joseph Donahoe, from early in the twentieth century, in his book Early Christian Hymns: Series II.

O lover of the Lord, bear evermore in mind
That by the sacred dew of Christ, thy soul has been refined.

When on thy couch at night, thou liest down to sleep,
Sign with His Cross thy brow and heart, that He thy soul may keep.

For every crime departs and shadows fly away
When Christ’s redeeming Cross is raised, the soul’s eternal stay.

I don’t think our decisions in dreams really count.

But for your peace of mind, (and just in case) I think it would help bringing this up at Confession.

Even if this is real, it’s NOT irreversable. There are even people who sold their souls to the devil and later came back to God and repented. It’s definitely reversable. Confess it to a priest, and maybe do a consecration to Mary or the Sacred Heart of Jesus… receive the Eucharist and pray the Rosary… and all should be fine 🙂 don’t be anxious about this. Do you right now want to be a servant of the devil? If not, then it was probably just a dream, but talk to your priest just in case.

Are you sure you weren’t talking to an Irish bishop?
 
Go to Confession and tell about this, and pray the online Catholic spiritual deliverance prayers. They’ll turn up if you google them.
