I posted this in another forum and didn’t get a response. Perhaps this is a better place to ask this question. TIA
We are told that when we are baptized that one of the effect is the the holy Trinity comes and takes up abode within us.

Do they continue abiding in us if we are in a state of mortal sin?
You often here that to look at another is to look upon the face of Jesus, but is that true if we are in a state of mortal sin??

Being in a state of unrepentant mortal sin is willfully rejecting God.

So the answer is “No”, the Trinity does not continue to abide in us. God respects our freedom to reject him and does not force himself upon us. It is why some souls spend eternity in hell. They reject the love of God, and he does not abide in them.
