Well said Itwin. As far as the Southern Baptist Churches, Adams fall, original sin, total depravity amount to the same state which could only be erased by Jesus Christ on the Cross. Baptism is required to be a Christian. And Baptism comes after one declares their belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. I have been involved with the Baptist Church for most of my 59 years. One Grandfather and Uncle were Baptist Preachers. Just as many of my Baptist friends no little of the Catholic Chuech, few Catholics know much of Southern Baptists. We would all do well to spend less time on differences and more time on building up the Body of Christ Jesus. Time is getting short.

I love my baptist friend and have known her for many years. She is a good wife and nother, but she can be very judgmental at times with little compassion. Her Christian life seems to center around her and her salvation alone, but not in serving those in need such as the poor and the unfortunate. I think she would blame them for their condition rather than showing compassion for them.

A Baptist acquaintance of mine was trying to understand infant baptism, or perhaps trying to explain to me why it’s unbiblical. Anyway, when I mentioned that baptism wipes away original sin, he said original sin no longer exists because Jesus forgave that and wiped that away on the cross. Now obviously I do not agree with him, but I have never heard that before. Just curious if that’s a normal baptist teaching?
All the Baptists I knew believed in Original Sin. The sin inherited from Adam.
However…
there are a sect of fundamental Baptists (KJV-only) who do not hold to this.
