Question about Bible and Salvation

I tried posting this once but it did not work.

Let me preface this with stating, I am not Catholic. I am not anti Catholic, I just do not understand, and have not had anybody who is able to explain it to me. I have researched the internet and am skeptical of many sites that appear to have anti-Catholic undertones. This has made it difficult for me to find what I am looking. What are the Catholic views on the bible? Should the bible be followed, or the catechism? Is the catechism derived from the bible? If not, where does the cathecism come from and how does it relate to the bible. My other question is, what are the Catholic views on the concept of salvation? Is salvation a valid concept? Is one ever truly saved? If so, what are the requirements for salvation? If there are reliable sites that provide this information, a link to them would be much appreciated.

It is Divine Revelation, written by Catholic authors inspired by the Spirit. The Bible contains the truth. More from the Catechism.

Should the bible be followed, or the catechism?

Both. They do not contradict. Scripture contains written revelation. The Catechism is a sure norm for teaching the faith both from Tradition, and from giving interpretations from Scripture. The Catechism is chock-full of Scripture citations when explaining things. It is a product of the Catholic Church, which has been entrusted to teach by Christ.

Is one ever truly saved? If so, what are the requirements for salvation? If there are reliable sites that provide this information, a link to them would be much appreciated.

Yes, people are truly saved. The simplest answer is to follow Christ. This website is one of your better bets . Go to www.catholic.com and see all the different subjects on the left.
