Im not really religious. So im not quite sure which thread im supposed to post this in, but out of curiosity a thought came to my head with a few religious questions which really freaked me out.
  1. If you managed to strike a deal with the Devil/Lucifer . Could you ask for his soul in return for yours?
  2. Or a binding of his soul into your body (A mortal form). Basically trapping his soul within human flesh? Would that prevent him from harming others?
  3. And I bet that if you DID have a deal with the devil. But you traded your soul for a good cause (helping/protecting something/healing others), does that mean your soul could still be saved?
I hope this gets some answers. Thx for taking the time to read.

Some hypothetical question methinks are better left unsaid. lol
This reminds me somewhat of the movie Constantine…watch it. Good movie.

First, my username is from the Holy Roman Emperor, not Keanu Reeves 😃

I think the OP’s perception does come from media and other fictional novels, not actual Catholic teaching.

In any case, the Catholic Church strongly discourages, even prohibits just anyone from making deals with the devil. Should one come across a possession or any demonic activity, best to leave it to a properly trained exorcist.

1)The Devil being an angel doesn’t have a soul.
2)That’s called demonic possession
3)I don’t know if a soul is a commodity that you can trade

No you can’t possess the devil…he is from the ages and way too smart too cunning too evil. The devil might make you believe you can. Truth is that you can’t. You can trade a deal but the favor will be at the devils side. The devil is eternally damned and there’s no way of reconciling.

The devil can take over any shape or form if we give him opportunity. He can be subtle or he can be blatant. With Lucifer being the leader he work with legions whose mission is to steal, kill and destroy.

John 10:10 (New International Version, ©2010)

10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they (us) may have life, and have it to the full.

HEBREWS 2:14 NKJ

14 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,

1 Peter 5:8-12 (New International Version, ©2010)

8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

Because when a person dies without God’s grace of salvation…the devil owns that soul in hell — forever where there will weeping and gnashing of teeth.

In Mark 9:28-35 (New International Version, ©2010)

28 After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” (they we’re referring to the evil spirits they we’re to drive out.)

29 He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer.

And under whose name the devil trembles and subdued?

MATTHEW 28:18-19 NKJ
18 Then Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

PHILIPPIANS 2:10 NKJ
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,

Notice that it is at the Name of Jesus, not just to the person of Jesus, that every knee will bow. As true believers in Jesus Christ, we are members of His body, and joint-heirs in His authority.

No human being, in themselves, is any match for the devil. So we must not resist him in our own ability or name. Remember, we are talking about authority over the devil, not power over him. We are not more powerful than the devil, but we do have more authority as believers in Jesus Christ.

Just as a policeman in uniform has the backing of the entire government and all its forces, so do believers have the backing of God and all His forces, when we stand against the devil in Jesus’ Name.

God gave you authority and expects you to use it. If you disobey God by not using it, things will not go very well in your life.

In the book of Job the devil has to ask permission from God.

Job 1: 6-12

Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.

Again in Job 2: 1-10 Click the link for reference.

Job 2: 1-10

In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.

We are instructed just as Job did to resist any temptation of the devil. Joseph did exactly this.

Genesis 39:7-10 (New International Version, ©2010)

7 and after a while his master’s wife took notice of Joseph and said, “Come to bed with me!”

8 But he refused. “With me in charge,” he told her, “my master does not concern himself with anything in the house; everything he owns he has entrusted to my care.

9 No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?”

10 And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her or even be with her.

Satan, who is called the tempter (Mt. 4:3; 1 Thess. 3:5), is out to get us. He doesn’t care how spiritual we are, or how secure we are in our Christian homes; he is going to tempt us to sin hoping to lead us away from God and our families.

Philippians 2:8-10 (New International Version, ©2010)

8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!

9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,

10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

So make no mistake the devil is real and can make someone’s life miserable…and we see them everyday around us.

Take your fight against the devil only with th power and authority in Jesus name.

May God keep us all safe and strong.

He is an angel albeit a fallen one, he fell through pride…he has a desire to take souls from God out of hatred of God not out of love for humans
2. Or a binding of his soul into your body (A mortal form). Basically trapping his soul within human flesh? Would that prevent him from harming others?

No

**You cannot make a good out of an evil…this is an oxymoron. Yes, people do trade their souls for earthly rewards often not really believing the whole thing. It is possible to be SAVED despite this but I am not sure of the requirements needed. It is incredibly stupid and dangerous to do so at the risk of eternal damnation. The Devil is not stupid and is very cunning.**I hope this gets some answers. Thx for taking the time to read.

#1 - You cannot lose possession of your soul.
#2 - You could become possessed by a demon if you permit it and the demon chooses to.
#3 - It is possible to be possessed and in a state of grace. However, if we are saying that you invited the demon in there is going to be the necessity of repentance on your part. Simply going to confession will return that grace though. The demonic possession would probably require an exorcism.
#4 - There are many more demons than just Satan.
#5 - Even if Satan was possessing you, he could affect other people in the world. Angels and Demons, not being corporeal beings, are not necessarily limited to physical rules.

Binding a demon into any human body is exactly the opposite of what an exorcist tries to achieve. It would be like wilfully trying to contract bubonic plague.

Imagine having an annoying lodger 24 hours a day in your apartment. And you are forced to stay with him, there. 24 hours a day.

Now that’s crazy!
