Question about Bishoprics of Rome

I was curious how the city of Rome is organized with its Bishoprics. Besides the Vatican government, the city is so big it must need multiple bishops.

I was guessing that it was organized that the Pope is “The bishop” of the entire city, and the city itself is carved up into a few dioceses (besides the Vatican) but I was curious how things are done.
 
My understanding is that Rome itself is still one diocese, but the day-to-day administration is carried on by one or more Vicar Bishops.

A suffragan diocese is a diocese in the Catholic Church that is overseen not only by its own bishop but also by a metropolitan bishop. The metropolitan bishop is always an archbishop who governs a diocese strictly his own, while he presides at the same time over the bishops of a well-defined ecclesiastical province composed of his suffragan dioceses. The bishop of a suffragan diocese is called a suffragan bishop.

The bishops of suburbicarian dioceses form the order of cardinal bishops. The term *suburbicarius *is taken from Roman public law, the expression *provinciae suburbicariae *meaning the districts adjacent to Rome.

The cardinal bishops are the true bishops of their respective dioceses, but each one is given an auxiliary who governs the diocese in their place.
