Question about book for Mass

What book does the Priest use that let’s him know what to do at special Masses, and not only him but the Altar Servers too? Example where would he look to find out all that needs to be done at all the Masses for Holy Week? Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday? Thanks
 
In the Ordinary Form of the Latin Rite, the priest uses the Roman Missal and the Ordo. I do not know of any book with instructions for the altar servers.

I knew Good Friday did not have a Mass. I was just wondering where he got the instructions from. Thank you for the answer.
 
All of the prayers for the Liturgy on Good Friday are in the Roman Missal – the regular missal used at Mass.
 
The Daily Roman Missal 3rd Edition, has the information you need to know which goes along with the mass. It is a perpetual book so you can use it year after year until the year 2025 and includes prayers and Saints day liturgies and Holy Day liturgies. Inside the book there are instruction on what is proper in liturgical worship but it will not include everything because some things are up to the Priest or the liturgical worship director to decide but it needs to be within the perimeters set by the Church. I love this book it’s handy and packed with information on the mass and our Catholic faith.
 
The Ordo and the Roman Missal are the first place anyone involved in the liturgy should look.

The next resource is Ceremonies of the Modern Roman Rite by Bp. Peter J. Elliot. It contains instructions for sacristans, servers, emcees, deacons and priests.

If you buy a copy of Ceremonies of the Modern Roman Rite, make sure you get the revised edition. The first edition has the 1970 translation of the Mass. This is the edition I have at home and it is still valuable but, if you are just getting one, make sure it’s the revised edition.
 
Also, the Ordo is specific to the Archdiocese/Diocese one is in. Which one needs to remember if they are looking at one online.

I had no idea this book exists! :o Thank you—there is a translation in French that I simply must own.
 
Bishop Peter Elliott (as he is now) actually has two books - the one for Easter is called Ceremonies of the Liturgical Year but get both. I lent my copy to a friend for Easter (since he was MC’ing) and very much regretted it!
