You are correct that priestly celibacy is not a dogma. However, you are not correct in saying that it has no theological grounding. Pope Paul VI found quite a bit of theological grounding for it in this encyclical.

In that encyclical, His Holiness doesn’t assert a theological basis but a practical one. He points out that advantages accrue from a celibate priesthood, but does not assert that God commands it.

LOL, yes! I can’t possibly read it all at once. I’m going to have to pace myself! That’s why posting here helps. When something comes up that I can’t read about right now but I want to know the answer soon, this forum come in handy! 🙂

I will. I have to learn to be more patient. I want to know everything about the Church now, but I’ll just have to pace myself. 🙂
