question about Confession

Hi,

I was just wondering… let’s say there’s a person and they often confess the same sin. One priest told them it’s a mortal sin, and another priest told them it’s venial. If it’s a mortal sin, - are they still forgiven if the second priest believes it is venial? or must the priest agree that it’s a mortal sin in order for it to be forgiven? I just don’t know what the Church teaching is.

It really makes no difference. Once your sins are absolved, they’re gone and forgotten. Thank you Jesus for this most precious gift!

Jesus is aware of the imperfections in man. The absolution is valid regardless. The well honed conscience usually knows the severity. An added mention in nightly prayers is a good idea.
