I have a question for the married folks here. Did yall ever have any doubts about marring your current spouse before yall married?

That’s a tough question, so I thought about it.

I dunno if you can ever be 100% sure on anything. I think the answer is to make sure *you’re *gonna give the marriage 100% to make it work, and it will.

I just called my wife of 32 years in here and asked her.

“were you 100% sure I was the one?”

“what kind of question is that?”

“a good one?”

“yeah, I was pretty sure you were the one”

“well that’s not exactly 100%, sounds like you were hedging”

“no I wasn’t”

“I’m kinda like the million dollar case on that show. If you’re sure ya got the million dollar case, you gotta turn down the banker, so am I Deal or No Deal?”

And she said “NO Deal!”

“So that means you’re gonna keep me?”

“yessssssssssss”

uh, if you’re married, there is only one answer, just like there is only one answer to “do these jeans make me look fat”,
“I made this for you, how does it taste (look, work etc).”
“do you still love me?”

Of course, I had doubts - I’m pretty sure most people do - but after talking in depth about all sorts of important topics (largely thanks to an Engaged Encounter weekend) I knew those doubts weren’t about the important things.

Once I knew I could trust my now-husband to talk about things openly, and stay committed to our marriage no matter what, I was no longer really worried about marrying him.

No, but we were together for 5 years before we got to the point in our lives where marriage came into real consideration.
I know many people who are happily married and had doubts beforehand. I think it’s normal.

Not really but we had been together 3 years, and I pretty much knew from the get go he was the One. My biggest problem was overcoming his doubts in the early stages of dating.

He on the other hand struggled through the first year of dating. It took a lot of patience on my part and understanding. Nathan played football in college and had some other things going for him. It was pretty clear I shook up his life plans. Mr. Bachelor was no longer going to be that way.😉

I think it is pretty normal. I mean you are making a commitment to someone for the rest of our life. I can’t even commit to dinner…so I am sure at some point I did and I just forgot about it.

My husband and I were both married before to real winners… So that being said… we dated a really long time before we got married. I tease my husband about it often because he didn’t propose until we had been together longer than his first marriage had lasted.

We both had our moments of not exactly doubt, but more like, do I really think this is a good idea to try this again. I knew I loved him and he loved me, but the wounds though healed, left some pretty nasty scars on both of us… his ex lied and cheated, mine literally had a diagnosis that included his inability to tell the truth… and we both had children… we had to consider what was best for them too. Actually, really funny but our priest was the one that finally got him to propose. He asked to see us after mass and bluntly asked if we were EVER going to get married… that got the ball rolling. And today, I thank that priest!!!

I was just wondering lol. It really was a random question. My gf and I have 4 years of college left so we have not talked much about marriage yet. Altho we may start talking about it lol.
