Question about Diablo3

Started to play D3 around at the moment when i began to purge my life of everything bad that has brought me the atheism, of course, I immediately thought that what I like to do, and what brings me fun (eg computer games) is a sin, to be honest I know that this is not so, rather mean, but I need a verbal support and confirm this fact.

But as I outlined for myself is that the game is not a sin? Well, just like the fact that game and are not life-simulation (like SIMS or a game like Dragon Age) and the fact that I struggle with evil in Diablo 3 is also one of those facts, but I remembered a phrase saying: “if you will long struggle with evil is evil, you become a evil” so after a long time playing diablo 3, I again began to remark all of this evil atmosphere of this game, although I do get pleasure from other of diablo3, no matter what I have consumed a true pack of evil, but simply from the fact that I’m a longtime fan of this series of games(diablo) and a fan of the style of Blizzard games.

I thought was that this is not a sin(and if you believe in God, then no computer game hurts you and only bring pure fun), and just play, am i right?

I wouldn’t worry about it. After all, D3 is just a game. So long as people don’t take it as a “pseudo-reality” or try and emulate parts of the game (it sounds crazy, but it is known to happen), I doubt that playing a video game is a sin.

I am currently playing loads of Diablo 3 myself, a very enjoyable game, though when you get to Hell mode things get really hairy, I’m already in fear of what Inferno mode will be like!. I do not think playing a game can be evil per se; but playing too much to where it is unhealthy or causes you to not fulfill you life responsibilities is a real issue. If it doesn’t lead you to sin and you keep it in proportion, then play away and have fun!

well yes, inferno>>hell, act1(inf) maybe looks like act4(hell), but when u come up to act2 it will be like inferno, really hard so buy good items in AH and goodluck

Also, video games are not a source of moral judgement.
I’ve played Diablo II: Lord of Destruction and there’s nothing wrong with it. I’d say the same is true for Diablo III.

If the game promotes or evokes any sinful thoughts in your mind it is best to get rid of it. I mean, I’m really sorry for the ‘intolerance’ and for being a ‘bigot’, but to me it seems like the game has got to go. Their are other games that do, at least for me, promote holy things and help me practice good virtue in the game. You just have to look for the right titles.

It’s worth noting that the goal of the game is to rid the world of evil and kill Diablo (the devil). So yes, you do see some dark, ugly creatures, but you see these things because it’s your job to kill them. If I were you I would think about it that way. Imagine yourself as a crusader of sorts.

Odd that Diablo II: Lord of Destruction was a little more vague about that. O:
Personally, I’d prefer playing as either as a Barbarian (to which I had become a specialist in) or as a Paladin (without scepters of course).

well im not really like to imaginate games, its just fun for me and my hobby, also i know my role as demon hunter in sanctuary(i mean come on, this is RPG), and as my faith in God strong then i search this good aspects of this game, i think its enough to spend my time on this without consequences

well im not really like to imaginate games, its just fun for me and my hobby, also i know my role as demon hunter in sanctuary(i mean come on, this is RPG), and as my faith in God strong then i search this good aspects of this game(like good non-game characters, good history of this world, good music etc), i think its enough to spend my time on this without consequences

With respect, would not Diablo3 be somewhat morally virtuous to play (As long as it is done in moderation?)

Sure, there is an evil atmosphere to the game, but there is real evil in the world.

Also the “good guys” in the game often fight for a religion with many similarities to Christianity, and many of the demon bosses are actual demons from bible (Diablo(Satan), Baal, Mephistopheles, etc.)

You get to smite demons after all, and the demons smote in the game can serve as a nice metaphor for what we are called to do to demons in this life (by responding to God.)

Just saw some of the game, and thought I would give my two cents on the matter.
