Question about discerning Gods will

I have heard that one good way to discern Gods will is to go for the decision that gives you the most peace and feels right. What if there is one choice that you still have a few doubts about, but it still gives you more peace than any of the other choices?

We are called to use our sanctified reason and make a decision, asking God to bless it and confirm our choice to us through certain ways known best by Him. Even it is a wrong choice, but made after prayerful discernment, the fact that you are trying to please God will make your action right in His eyes.

As you move forward, He can always intervene with circumstances that reveal the lesser good hidden withinyour choice. The worse thing is to sit on the couch endlessly and do nothing, because until the car gets moving, the driver cannot navigate it. Also, ask others to pray with you and seek the counsel of a trusted group of wise Christians.

Mother Angelica advised that if you feel the urge to do something, and it is not sinful, then do it. If it works out it was God’s Will; continue. If you fall on your face it was not God’s Will; don’t do that again.

I would suggest doing it in small steps; so you don’t hit too hard if you fall on your face.

Father Manning gave us similar advice. If you have an idea try it in a small step. If it works try something a bit larger. If it doesn’t work try something else.

But as Sirach 2 suggested: Do something. In Aerospace we always had a problem with those who endlessly analyze problems and never get started. It was called “Paralysis by Analysis”. The best way to kill projects.

I try to live by my personal mantra of “Thy will be done,…” I have used it enough that whenever I need to make a decision I have God in mind. I have been over a few rough spots but whenever I left it up to God, it all turned out very well.

Not meant to be, but according to God’s will.
If we are at peace with things that happen, good or bad, and beliefe it came from God, then we always abide by His will. Things eventually work out because we become patient in the process. In my experience, I used to question why I do not get quick results. But experience taught me that when God gives us something, He makes sure we’re ready and worthy to receive it. So it may take some time as He guides us through circumstances in life so that through experience we may be ready for His blessing. As long as we abide by His will, then we are heading the right path.
