I know you are spose to fast one hour before Holy Communion. But does that one hour start an hour before entering the church, or is it an hour before actually recieving the Communion?

Before actually recieving communion.

But I hold to the fasting starting at midnight before the Mass.

I always fast an hour before Mass. It’s just easier for me to remember.
Same here. Or if I go to early Mass I don’t even bother to eat until after, and then I have a nice big breakfast. 🙂

Canon Law states that :
One who is to receive the Most Holy Eucharist is to abstain from any food or drink, with the exception of water and medicine, for at least the period of one hour before Holy Communion."
However, I have seen it argued that, because the Mass is in fact a single act of sacrifice, it should be viewed as one and the same as the reception of Holy Communion. Though I don’t believe this binds a person morally to abstain for an hour prior to Mass, I like the line of thinking.
