I know you are spose to fast one hour before Holy Communion. But does that one hour start an hour before entering the church, or is it an hour before actually recieving the Communion?

One who is to receive the Most Holy Eucharist is to abstain from any food or drink, with the exception of water and medicine, for at least the period of one hour before Holy Communion."
However, I have seen it argued that, because the Mass is in fact a single act of sacrifice, it should be viewed as one and the same as the reception of Holy Communion. Though I don’t believe this binds a person morally to abstain for an hour prior to Mass, I like the line of thinking.
