I had trouble figuring out where to post this, so I’m sorry if this is the wrong forum. Anyway, there was a question I had about Our Lady of Fatima.

Now, to make sure my understanding is correct, my knowledge of the accounts of the shepherd children’s encounters with Mary is that they gave accounts at the time (obviously). These were formally declared worthy of belief. Later on one of the children, Lucia, in her memoirs wrote further on the subject, giving details that were not stated at the time, with the most famous being the “three secrets of Fatima”.

What I have been trying to determine is exactly what the children originally said Mary told them, disconnected from any later writings by Lucia. I’m interested in this because the original accounts seem more reliable. Lucia’s later writings occurred decades after the events described, could not be corroborated by her cousins (as they had died), and were not covered by the “worthy of belief” investigation and announcement. This is not to say they were false, but they are clearly not as well attested to.

However, when I try to find information about what the children say was said to them, information from the later writings are generally lumped in with the contemporary accounts. Does anyone know of a source that can tell me what information came from which?
