Question about God and satan

I apologize if this has been asked before. I need some enlightenment on this.

Why doesn’t God just destroy satan?

I’ve read people say because satan is a creation of God, and he cannot destroy it because that would be evil.

But why has God finished cities in ancient times with people, he also created, but not satan? I know those people were sinners and all, but satan is well, satan! The one behind it all.

Can anyone please answer my question? I’m not trying to offend our Lord or anything, I just really need to know. Thank you.

Maybe Lucifer is someone he has made an example of, to help guide us as to what not to become.

Satan was made into eternal life, just like us. Wiping evildoers of the face of the Earth and sending them to hell is not the same as wiping them out of existence. God doesn’t destroy what was made for eternity.

Ask yourself if God wiped out the souls of the inhabitants of those cities.
I would surmise that if they were indeed wiped out a very good reason for it was needed.
I am not going to second guess God when he states that some sins warrant that kind of punishment.

I remember asking my old pastor about this, and all I got back was a shrug, and “Oh, I suppose he’s got a job to do.”

I suppose that’s about it, unlovely as that job may be.

If we take the business about a battle in heaven literally, and Satan being cast down to earth, then the first question one might ask is “Why earth?” Why not some black hole somewhere so he can’t do any more damage?

That was clearly God’s decision.

I think we’re a bit quick to let God off the hook sometimes. It’s His plan, remember.

When Christ foretold the terrible suffering that would befall the Jews for example following his crucifixion, and which not only included the dispersion at the hands of the Romans forty years later, but culminated in the Holocaust in the 20th century, one gets a sense of divine involvement in the matter.

I accept God is “Love” and “Good” and all the rest. Well, I accept these statements as articles of faith if you like. But I think we’re a long way from understanding what God’s “Love” and “Goodness” are. Or at least I am.

I think most people would be terrified if they were confronted by Satan as penultimate evil.

But I also think most people are going to be very uncomfortable when they are confronted by absolute holiness.

We’re caught in the middle, and that’s what God intended. We’re forced to make a choice - either for God, or for the devil. To ignore God or sit on the fence means choosing the devil by default (a very useful word in this context, given its modern emphasis by the computer industry).

The fact of the matter is that Satan is there by God’s design.

Whether we like it or not, or understand it or not, is academic.

In my small wisdom; had God destroyed Satan, He would have no reason to create humans or God’s Divine Plan of Redemption.

Nothing that God creates is empty or for that it having an ultimate reason of God’s (“own design”) for being brought into existance by our Creator since God is All-Knowing in Eternity. Everything God creates is widom in His making. Consider that God’s smallest child-like simplest wisdom is but folly in humans trying rationalize in understanding.

Ultimately there was a reason God created the once Great Angel Lucifer. But God knew in Eternity with His Divine Plans there would be a moment in ions that Lucifer would betray Him and make a Great Fall. I find all this quite humbling.

I have heard that God cast Satan to Earth to witness the infinite mercy of God on mankind - a lesser being - to drive home to Satan exactly what he rejected.

I believe it was in a Hal Lindsey book I read as a youth so take it with a grain of salt. Interesting explanation if it’s true.

Sounds logic.

Moreover, I believe hell is not necessary “fire”, it’s a separation of GOD’s presence.

Well…because God is wiser…than the rest of us.

God can certainly destroy or defeat Satan if He wanted to…but why has He not?

Well…because if God did so…Satan, because of his pride, can turn that defeat into victory…by saying he(Satan) was defeated, not by anybody…but only by the power of God…so God knows this and so will not do it…and has planned another way to defeat Satan.

Which plan, you may ask…well, God’s plan is to counter Satan’s pride with obedience and love and humility…and who possesses these, who embodies these to the fullest?

Well…who else but the Virgin Mary. It will be the obedience, love, and humility of the BVM versus Satan’s pride…that is the battle being waged.
