Question about Holy Thursday

My church always has adoration until midnight on Holy Thursday. 2 questions:

1. This year, we have a new priest and he didn’t put the Host in the Monstrance. He just put a ciborium uncovered on the altar. Is that a normal practice?
2. Before adoration, the priest processed around the church with a special red robe on and the altar server followed him and she carried the incense container around.
   (a) can a non-priest carry incense?
   (b) since he wasn’t using a Monstrance, he carried a large Host but held it with his hands inside the folds of his robe (ie. he didn’t hold the Host with his bare hands, the robe was touching the Host). Was he not allowed to touch the Host??? He touches it during Communion? I would think the robe shouldn’t have touched the Host??

1. The Blessed Sacrament should be reserved in a closed tabernacle or pyx. Under no circumstances may it be exposed in a monstrance.

2 a. Yes, a non-priest can carry the incense.
2 b. He should have been wearing a humeral veil. It’s part of the ritual for the Mass of the Lord’s Supper. I don’t understand why he’d be carrying around a single Host rather than the ciborium in procession.

That is how it should be done.

Certanly.

The host should have been in another vessel.
