So earlier tonight watching the coverage of the Massachusetts special election returns and as I change the channel and it comes to MSNBC I leave it on there for a few seconds and it’s the final moments of Keith Olbermann’s program. I listen in expecting to hear some sort of comment about the election and instead I hear him sign off with (paraphrasing) “…concluding our program for this, the (???)th day since our previous commander-in-chief declared “Mission Accomplished” for the war in Iraq!”

Anyway, what sort of petty grudge is this? Especially when it has nothing to do with anything else of interest today. Does he mention this every day? LOL Also why is he this obsessed with George Bush?

good question but a simple answer suffices-- Olbermann supports Democratic party ideologies and policies and since GW was contrary to all Olbermann believes in, it is is perogative as a political commentator to make his displeasure known.

A great question to the OP that I have asked my wife as well. Health care, economy, Afghanistan, Haiti, unemployment, Iran, these are the issues of the present and yet this dufus has to mention Bush’s declaration every single solitary night. He’s an arrogant weasle. And what I hate EVEN MORE than the Bush bashing is how he has to continue his feud with Bill O’Reilley every single night without fail. He mentions O’Reilley and imitates his voice, mocks every word that comes forth from Bill’s mouth, and tries to defame the heck out of him. He puts Bill as his “worst person in the world” constantly and talks up this feud. The funny thing is, in all the years I have watched the O’Reilley Factor, which I love, not one episode that I have seen had Bill throwing mud at Olbermann or even any mention of Keith Olbermann at all? It’s like a one-way feud for Keithie. He’s a former ESPN jerkwad, old Olbermann and they hated him there. He’s a blow-hard. Rachel Maddow, the short-haired lesbian elitist that follows Olbermann is no picnic to watch either but compared to Olbermann she’s a real peach! Since the People’s Republic of Massachusetts just elected a Republican for the first time since the late 70’s, Rachel and Keith should be going into convulsions pretty soon! 👍

Kind of like the anti-Rush…except that he actually seems to have a fact checker.

olberman is a looney bin and his way of thinking is the same as those who have taken over the democrat party, thats why we are in the shape we’re in. 🤷

5 responses in, and only the first 2 have actually been relevant. I even managed to draw a cheap shot at Rush Limbaugh somehow! Either way, guys, I didn’t ask, nor do I care, whether you like Keith Olbermann or for libs to give their best responses to defend their hero. My questions were pretty clear, so look at the OP carefully before responding and if you don’t have anything relevant to contribute than just refrain from responding altogether. Thanks.

So I was correct in gathering that he really did this every single night? If so, that’s just insane. It sounds like you’re subjected to these broadcasts on quite a regular basis though, so I guess if you can’t figure out why he is so obsessed with George Bush then probably only Keith himself knows for sure.

I watched the same broadcast and wondered the same thing. Must be proof of Nietschze’s law of eternal recurrence.

In my opinion, Olbermann’s statements go way beyond political opinion and go into areas closer to slander and calumny just for the sheer pleasure of it.

It is in part a grudge. Although the Olberman’s of the world have hated President Bush since the Florida recounts they see what was an unpopular war in Iraq as what brought them congressional power and President Obama.

The other half is an inside joke. The ABC late night news show Nightline began its life as a special broadcast during the Iranian hostage crises. Each night was “America Held Hostage: day 222”

His grudge is the fact that he feels inadequate because all he can do is talk on TV.

He often refers to President Bush, who despite his human flaws, kept us safe from those murderous Islamic terrorists who would kill all of us, including our women & children!

He is irrelevant because he is a sports anchor who wants to be considered important , so he has noting but hatred & vitriol to spew. Pray for him!

Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, Ora Pro Nobis Peccatoribus!

All liberals are obsessed with Bush. Listen to Obama’s speeches. Has he ever given a speech without refering to how horrible the Bush administration was? In every speech he has to atleast make one reference to the ‘failed policies of the last eight years’ or of the republicans or etc. He even did it in response to the Scott Brown win in Mass. He said that it was a sign of the dissatisfaction of the Mass. voters with the last eight years, rather than with his first year as president. This is all from the man who was going to bring in a new type of politics that would not be so bipartisan.

Yeah, but Obama at least maintains some semblance of composure and tries to make his potshots sound like they’re relevant to the subject he’s talking about. Plus in Obama’s case the remarks are first and foremost an attempt at political expediency - a means to an end - and not necessarily some irrational hatred of Bush. KO’s remarks on the other hand were just so forced and unnatural, which makes him seem extremely obsessed.

good for the goose, but bad for the gander?

Texas Roofer,

My advice for you would be to actually READ the posts before you respond to them. It’s obvious to everyone else that looks at this that your quote doesn’t even apply to my other post the way you’re trying to pretend it does. Anyway I’m not going to entertain any more of your de-railment attempts here. Back on topic.

Keith Olbermann mand a name for himself on SportsCenter with Dan Patrick. Olbermann used what he thought was his “biting wit” as he discussed the day’s sporting events. For a while, the duo was quite popular.

Olbermann sought greener pastures and wanted to leave Bristol, Connecticut (ESPN’s base) for NYC.

I care nothing for Olbermann’s politics or his show. I have never watched his show and have no desire to do so. obviously he reaches some demographic or one would think MSNBC would take him off the air.

I believe Olbrmann’s career hit its apex when he did the fake ESPN “Greatest Hits” commercial. Olbermann sang, “Let’s Go Rangers” (a popular cheer at New York Ranger hockey games).

It’s been downhill ever since.

That’s my take.

I don’t think it is a petty grudge. I think (as others have said) Olbermann is ultra left. He is also very into himself and has a huge ego. He is always attempting to use humor in a twisted perverted manner to make a point loud and clear. His “mission accomplished” act/statement is precisely an example of that. If he can get a laugh at the expense of of another he will not hold back in any way, he will go all out.

He is witty and very good at insulting and humilitating others for the fun of it. I liken him to a large powerful person picking on people for fun.

Familiar with the line “sticks and stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me”? I never liked that saying. Verbal bullies are just as harmful as physical bullies, in some cases much more so. My opinion…I think it should be legal for vehement verbal assaults to be countered with a punch in the mouth of equal force. Maybe not a popular opinion but it’s America :). This guy is a coward.

Hope I wasn’t off thread ;).
