Hi all,
Question about lust. Let’s say there’s a guy and you keep glancing at his butt (cuz his pants are falling down and it’s distracting not for any sexual reason). Or you glance at his private area not because you want to, it just kind of happens and you quickly look away. Or you’re a straight woman but you look at women’s (clothed) butt and breasts, not because you are thinking sexual thoughts but it’s more out of comparison/curiosity/appreciation of the human body. Sometimes I find myself looking but then quickly looking away or looking and not having any kind of thoughts, it’s more of like a curiosity or appreciation or comparison thing. Would this be sinful and to what degree? It kind of worries me because sometimes my eyes just go there without me trying to look. Thanks!

We cannot avoid seeing at all, especially if we do not know what is there. We can avoid looking again, and look away.
Don’t purposefully look at things that you know have the potential to arouse you. But, I don’t think you were at all lustful and should be at peace about this.

Intentions indeed matter. God sees all and sins not.

Exactly right. While I do not believe accidentally looking is a sin, it can lead to something else. Try not to use your curiosity as an excuse to tempt yourself.

This sounds like a mild visual form of Aspergers.
Where you imagination compulses you to do the very opposite of what you want to do and which you know is publicly inappropriate!

You may just be a teenager going through a vulnerable time and your nerves are on edge.

You cannot keep the birds from flying overhead.

You can keep the birds from making a nest in your hair.
