Question About Mary ??

In response to partridge about the use of until I have a great example from a book I read my kids. The book is called I love you forever, and it talks about a relationship between the son and the mother throughout life. It states, " that two year old grew and he grew and he grew until he was two years old". Now obviously this kid did not stop growing after he became two years old, but continued to grow into adulthood. So the use of until is not a concrete use of the meaning. So is the same with this passage of the bible. Also Jesus says “I will be with you until the end of time”, He isn’t going to leave us after time ceases.

A better statement would be of a Pastor preying on young kids that trust the man to be a man of God and sexully abusing them for years turning what they thought of Church and God into a sexually perverted act for years to come. That would have been a better comparison.

God Bless
Bear in mind that not even one of the cases with the Catholic priests had to do with any young children. The victims were all in their late teens and early twenties.

Bad enough, of course, and needs to be dealt with, but a lot of people are under the impression that priests were doing this to little kids - they weren’t.

And you’d BETTER not take anything away from it.

And how do you define being “born again”? What do I need to do to be “born again” according to your interpretation? Say a prayer asking Jesus into my heart? If that’s the case, I’ve done that. **I came to know Jesus at the age of 19 in an independent, fundamental Baptist church. **I’m not some poorly catechised Cafeteria Catholic who just goes through the motions every Sunday without knowing or caring why. I thank God for my Baptist background that gave me a love for the written Word and encouraged me to read Scripture. **It was the words of Christ in the Gospels that made me Catholic. **

Didn’t Jesus also say, “Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, ye have not life in yourselves. He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood hath eternal life: and I will raise him up at the last day.” ?
Turn to Jesus in faith and repent. There’s no other way. You are being deceived to think that the flesh means wafer. Jesus said His flesh is meat. Meat, as defined by Jesus, is doing the work of God. And, the Work of God is believing on Him. Jesus also said that if we believe on Him we shall have everlasting life.

I still assume that if the Catholic Church didn’t teach it, protestants would not spend any time with it at all.

I agree because this is all about wether you accept Christ or not. It’s a Heaven or Hell thing. Smoking or non-smoking for eternity.
In the end, you have to answer to God to wether you accepted His Sacrificial Lamb for the forgiveness of your sins or not.

How can you call yourself a “Christian” and actually believe that God would allow his Son to be born of a sinner who was not worthy of being his mother? Does that make sense to you?
Is ANYBODY worthy of Heaven? Is there ONE out there that does not need a Savior? IF Mary was saved from sin the way the RCC says, then Paul is wrong by saying that “all have sinned” and you call him a liar.
Jesus was born of a woman who needed a Savior just like you and I today.

THAT, my friend, is another reason why the birth of Jesus was a miracle from God and a fulfilled prophecy.

And you classify Jesus as no better than other humans when you claim that he was born of a sinner!

Did Jesus sin too then?

Nope. He took after His Father’s side! He got His humanity from his mother’s side of the family while He got His Godliness from His Father’s side.
Luckily for us, He went into His Father’s business!

The Christians who died in Christ is in heaven. Those who died in their faith.

Paul was not liar. You have read what the context of “all have sin”

John Martignoni, President of Bible Christian Society (biblechristiansociety.com ) states this.
Romans 3, verse 10 says, “…as it is written: ‘None is righteous, no, not one.’” Yet, James 5:16 says that the prayer of a righteous man availeth much. If absolutely no one is righteous, then who is James talking about? Luke chapter 1 says that Elizabeth and Zechariah were righteous before God. If absolutely no one is righteous, then how can that be? Is Scripture contradicting itself? No, the folks who interpret Romans as saying absolutely, without exception, no one is righteous, are misinterpreting that passage. They are failing to realize that the key to understanding Romans 3:10 is the phrase, “it is written.”
Here in Romans, Paul is quoting from the O.T., Psalm 14 to be exact. In Psalm 14 it says, “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God. They are corrupt…there is none that does good.’” But then that same psalm goes on to talk about the “righteous.” Well, if none has done good, who are these righteous the psalm is talking about? Obviously, when the psalmist says that none has done good, he is talking about the fools who say there is no God. He is not talking about absolutely everyone.
Just so Paul when he quotes from this psalm. Paul is not saying absolutely no one is righteous, if he was, then how do you explain all the Old and New Testament passages that refer to the righteous? In Romans 3:11 it says that no one seeks for God. Does that mean that absolutely no one is seeking God? No, to interpret it that way would be ludicrous!
Just so verse 23 which says that “all have sinned”. Babies haven’t sinned, have they? Little children haven’t sinned, have they? No! This is not an absolute. There are exceptions. What about John the Baptist? Did he sin? Scripture says that he was filled with the Holy Spirit even from his mother’s womb. Can someone who is filled with the Holy Spirit his entire life ever sin? It’s something to think about.
So, it is perfectly legitimate to say that these passages from Romans, when interpreted in context, in no way conflict with the Church’s teaching on Mary being without sin.

:rotfl: No, I was being deceived when I was told that baptism was only symbolic and the bread and grape juice were mere representations of the Body and Blood of Christ. I was being deceived when I was told that since I sincerely prayed a prayer asking Jesus to be my personal Savior, even if I went out and committed a heinous sin I was still guaranteed a spot in the Celestial Choir, since I already believed Jesus died for my sins.

I’ll believe the plain words of the Bible over that nonsense any day.

Booklover points out that “all have sinned” cannot be taken literally, if you do you might as well included Jesus, babies, and mentally ill patients who lack the reason and logic to know what is right and wrong.

According to your weird “Christian” beliefs since he got his humanity from a sinner, he must have been a sinner as well. You can’t have it both ways!

Manny, I didn’t post that, Kujo313 posted that on #245 but he seems to be doing something weird with the posts that are confusing who says what!

If you believe water baptism washes away your sin then you are truly deceived. And, you need to start eating the real flesh of Jesus and turn to Him in faith and REPENT. Religion will not get you into Heaven. You can go through all the Sacraments you want and none of them will get you into Heaven. You MUST turn to Him in faith and repent.

It must be taken literally. God cannot lie. If God said “all have sinned” then all have sinned. God is not the author of confusion 1Cr 14:33

Water baptism is the only kind of baptism there is - and Christ commands that we be baptized.
And, you need to start eating the real flesh of Jesus and turn to Him in faith and REPENT.
Eating the real flesh of Jesus is the only way to eat the real flesh of Jesus. All of your word games are nothing at all.

Religion and the Sacraments are the method we use to turn to Christ and repent of our sins. A person cannot merely imagine that he has done so, and then think that, because he imagined doing it, that he actually did it.

QUOTE=LJN21;2310843]How do we know they are inspired?
There are a number of tests the church used to determine this along with determing the canon.

No, this is from a source that the Church rejected as beiing inspired

.

Something can be true even if it is not inspired.

Like this post, for example. :tiphat:
Was it not rejected because it is full errors about Christ?
