It is possible for a girl to be married to a man ,who is NOT her kinsman but godfather? For example she is 26 and he is 30 years old .I have done research on this theme on the internet but I have found nothing

This question was briefly touched on, on an earlier thread. From memory, I think the answer is Yes, they are free to marry.

According to Catholic law, can I marry my sister-in-law’s cousin? I want to marry my brother’s wife’s cousin. I believe this is not considered incest in the secular understanding, but what about the Catholic understanding of marriage? Please help.

So are you saying that he was a 4 year old godfather when she was baptized? Are you sure he was a godfather as the canon law of the Catholic Church (Latin rite) has some requirements around who can be a godparent, and age is one of them (#874.1.4)

Maybe she was baptized as an adult?

No she was baptised for example whe she was 24 years old, then she fell in love with him.

In the Latin Church, yes, a person can marry their sponsor. Although I find it dubious that a four year old was a sponsor. Is perhaps this “godfather” some sort of honorary term rather than an actual sacramental sponsor?

Edited: I see the person was baptized as an adult. So disregard comment regarding ages.

In the Eastern Catholic Churches, it is a canon law impediment to marriage and would have to be dispensed.

This seems to happen quite often when a single person is joining the Church and their boyfriend or girlfriend is their sponsor.

In fact, it is planned that way.
