Hi I have a question about a Bible that I received as a gift today from a customer. It is called “NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION, MENS DEVOTIONAL BIBLE” I wanted to know if any one in here knew what relegion it is or if its ok to read it with me being a Catholic. it says it has Daily Devotions from godly men. So I would appreciate any help on wheter I should read it or if its not something I should be reading. I cant seem to find what religion it is anywhere on the Bible or in the internet.
Thank you 🤷

The devotionals are personal reflections from different christians.

It’s been a while since I’ve looked at mine but I don’t remember any of the devotionals containing anti-catholic sentiments. The bible itself does not include the deutorocanical books.

Hope this helps.🙂

Im sorry to sound so ignorant but to be honest I have never read the Bible and am in the process of begining to read it and was just wondering if reading the “Mens devotional Bible” would confuse me? or if its just like a study book?
once again Thank You

If you’ve never read the Bible, I think it’s a great place to start!

When reading theBible, I, personally, would suggest the Gospels first. They are the main “bread and butter”. Then, I would read Genesis & Exodus, to get the Jewish background, then I would jump to Acts, and continue the NT from there. I love reading Acts, as it brings the early church to life in such an inspiring way!

Just get a real Bible, like the New American Bible,Catholic Translation. And get the Concordance too.

Just to let you know, if you are in the US, you may also want to pick up a copy of the New American Bible. First, it contains all the books of the Bible, while the Protestant bibles eliminate several books. Second, the NAB version is the same version used by your parish priest to read the Gospels and has been endorsed by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Every English translation will be slightly different in wording and phrasing but they all attempt to pass along the same meanings. The USCCB endorsed the NAB version for use in all parishes across the US so everyone hears the same thing.

There is probably no reason NOT to read the version you just received, you simply need to understand that there are Protestant and Catholic versions of the Bible and the Protestant version is considered incomplete since it leaves out quite a bit of text.
