This may seem like a silly question, but here goes. At a low EF Mass, can the choir chant any of the propers out of the Liber, instead of singing a polyphonic motet or a hymn, or is chanting the propers strictly prohibited? Thanks.

I don’t know
I like Cyberhymnal myself.
Also I am reading a very good book-
Landmines in the path of the believer by Charles F. Stanley

I also like the Gaither family.

I missed Insight for living and Living on the edge tonight. Maybe tomorrow.

I have been negleting my Bible reading and other activities have been falling behind. I am trying to get banned so I don’t spend so much time on catholic answers.

Are you putting your faith and trust in Jesus Christ or are you putting your faith and trust in your church.?

Do you believe what your church tells you because you can verify it in the Holy Blble or because they said it is true.

Do you really want to know the truth by your own hardwork and research? Or are you willing to have someone else tell you what to believe?

Final note. I want to be a Protestant who is reverant and respectful towards Mary-the blessed mother of Jesus. Iam going to say the following prayers- the rosary, Angelus prayer, Stabet Mater, Litany of Lorato, Litany of st Joseph, Litany o the saints, Litany of the Precious Blood, litany of the Holy Name of Jesus, Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
litany of the Passion,
The Catholic Church has some very nice prayers, but I do not want to be a full time Catholic. So I guess I will be a full time Protestant that says Catholic prayers.

If it isn’t in the Bible don’t make me believe it.

Ok do I get banned? because I am really getting behind in my work? I wonder if this will post. If I don’t get banned then I guess I will just have to use some will power to stay off of catholic Answers. It is 11:49 pm getting late.

This ought to get me banned. Has a priest ever fallen asleep in the confessional?

🤷:clapping::whistle:👋:yawn::sleep:

I have never seen it done but there is no restriction against it.

My screen reading software has trouble reading PDF files, so are there any text versions of this available? Thanks.

14 b) At low Mass the faithful who participate directly in the liturgical ceremonies with the celebrant by reciting aloud the parts of the Mass which belong to them must, along with the priest and his server, use Latin exclusively.
But if, in addition to this direct participation in the liturgy, the faithful wish to add some prayers or popular hymns, according to local custom, these may be recited or sung in the vernacular.

I am not up on terminology…so a simpletons question…based on the previous comments, am I understanding then that during a Low Mass, say a Requiem where there is no choir present, would it be permissible for a person the chant the Te Deum as a Communion Hymn? If not, please answer why in simple terms. I am inexperienced with the Latin Mass but very curious about the “rules”…

I suppose that person could be considered the choir in that case. 🙂
