I read somewhere a while back where you were suppose to build a “friendship” with your confirmation saint. I am not entirely sure how to do this, do I just pray or do I talk. I regularly pray to my saint (Gabriel the Archangel), but I’m not sure how to go further than that, or if im even suppose to? Some quidance would be great!

You can, but you don’t have to. Many people choose a saint because they have the same name, or because they like to write and their saint is the patron saint of authors. They don’t necessarily go further than that.

Study him. The more you know about St. Gabriel, the more insight you’ll have into him and how God worked through him. The friendship will develop as you find more things to talk about. Until then, formal prayer and study.

That’s a good way of building up your prayer life and your fellowship with the saints, but it’s not the only way. But yes, it’s only polite to take an interest in your saint; and that often leads to more. Think about him and give him a little conversation as part of your prayers, that’s good too.
