We were married in the court by the judge.
Six months latter had a church wedding lutheran.
I am baptized in the lutheran faith. He is not baptized.
I just started RCIA. Will become catholic in 2005.
Will my marrige be consider valid in the catholic church?
Will we have all the blessing and graces that come with marraige?
And will it be consider sacramentel?
If no to any of the above questions please tell me how to go about getting it a yes.

If this is the first Marraige for both of you, Yes.

Your Faith will bring you strength.

No, for a Marriage to be a Sacrament both persons must be validly Baptized.

Your husband would also have to decide for himself to receive Baptism.

Check with your priest. There are complexities here. The status of marriage with an unbaptized person is an “issue” – but the canons on this make me dizzy. It certainly will not be considered a sacramental marriage.

God bless you!

I don’t want to take this thread in a new direction but it raises a question.

I would assume that the Catholic Church would consider the marriage described in this thread to become sacramental if and when the husband were to be validly baptized. It should not matter whether this (theoretical) baptism occurred before or after the wife was received into the Catholic Church. It should also not matter whether the husband is baptized as a Catholic or into some other Christian church.
