This is first I have heard of this. The OP beads do look similar to the description in your link, in the way the cord is laced through the beads, however the knot after the cross is too close to the first bead, so can’t be “pulled” as intended. May be a case of manufacturer copying a design but failing to fully understand the intended use?

Certainly it can be used as a “one decade” rosary. The St. Therese medal though, ties in with the story in the link.
