RCTV moved and took a new name, there were all these Vortex episodes about the new digs. I didn’t mean you, personally, I just figured it must finally be done and y’all are in there by now. No? .
The apostolate has moved, yes. That is very well known to those who watch the Vortex. 🙂
No one saying anything makes it true, Liza, except Jesus, I suppose. And he is affiliated with Opus Dei. Period. He is financed by a Supernumerary, your Center is administrated under one in Indiana. Of course, without his own Center Director’s approval, he can’t tell anyone he is. Didn’t you wonder why your Oratory was blessed by an out-of-town Bishop and your own Archbishop didn’t even know it existed?
Wow - you have a fantastic imagination!!
  • “He” - is not financed by anyone.
  • Nothing is administered by anyone or anything in Indiana. Prove otherwise please, or stop your silliness.
  • I never wondered why the studio was blessed by (then) Archbishop Burke. It was because it was a really cool and wonderful thing to do!! The opportunity presented itself, and it was arranged.
  • What makes you think the AOD didn’t know about the small chapel in that old studio? As a matter of fact, a member of the Chancery took a personal tour of the place! So unless he’s also keeping secrets, I don’t know what to tell ya there.
You’re off-topic, but do you have a link to that? Curious thread participants want to know! 😃
It’s your URL, I don’t think I need to provide that to you.

So tell me this – if Michael was Opus Dei (which he most certainly is NOT), what in the world difference would it make anyway? Plenty of people are members. I don’t see why this would be some sort of scandalous thing.

I’m an Opus Dei cooperator. Numeraries at my Study Center have been very forward, very upfront with everything concerning the prelature. Those with doubts should visit a Study Center and speak with actual numeraries and Opus Dei priests in residence. Opus Dei is a great organization completely loyal to the Magisterium and the Holy See.

Once again, all what we are talking in this post does not apply to you as you’re not an Opus Dei member.
Mark, since you repeatedly bring this up to me and to others, let me gently remind that you are not an Opus Dei member either.
Yes, Opus Dei’s priests provide spiritual counseling to non-members (how to say it… it’s one of their ways to get new members).
But once you become a member, your spiritual counselor will be a lay person assigned to you.
I’ve already been informed of this by a member, and I have absolutely no problem with it.
If you don’t want to do the commitment (because in Opus Dei they’re no vows) of being celibate for life (like a numerary or an associate), you can perfectly join as a supernumeary. It’s not required to be married to be a supernumerary.
I should point out that celibacy for life is required of all unmarried Catholics, whether or not they are members of Opus Dei.
At any rate, I’ve never experienced the slightest attempt to influence me during spiritual confession. I have openly expressed my desire, entirely of my own volition, to join Opus Dei and have been counseled to be patient and to continue working on my plan of life and to continue spiritual counseling with the priests and talking with members. That’s hardly arm-twisting!

Amen, Tampa Dave!👍

Every person, whether actual member (clergy) or associated person (laity) is assigned to a Center by Opus Dei. This is for their internal purposes, kind of like the bank where you opened your account is your bank, but you can go into any bank of the same name all over the country. But they have your records someplace, that’ll be your home bank. Opus Dei doesn’t necessarily inform you of anything. If you were in serious formation as a Numerary or something that would be different. Then you have an assigned confessor and spiritual director and so forth at a Center for that purpose.
I found out who to contact and where the centers as well as EOR locations are using a search engine called Google- it didn’t take long at all. As I’ve stated elsewhere, I don’t mind being assigned a spiritual director at all, it will be whoever is geographically close and has the time. As far as being “assigned” a confessor that’s rather absurd because Opus Dei priests are stretched thin to cover the EORs in my area and everyone present including supernumeraries (which is also “serious formation”) go to confession with whatever priest is available.

There is a real disconnect here between what people who actually have first hand knowledge are telling you, and your assumptions, which do seem to derive mostly from ODAN.

Correction to my post #142- that should read “spiritual direction” and not “spiritual confession.” I strive for perfection in grammar, punctuation, syntax and clarity but perfection is God’s alone.
