What should a wife say or do if her husband will not go to Confession (for decades), views pornography and utilizes it for self-sexual release, but continues to weekly receive the Holy Eucharist at Mass? I have tried communicating the importance of Confession to him (and how it has helped me tremendously) and the hurt the pornography use causes our marriage, but it hasn’t changed his belief that he doesn’t “need” to go to Confession. He won’t go to counseling or talk with a Priest about it, either with or without me, and just becomes angrier if I even broach the topic.

Can anyone recommend what a wife should say or do if her husband continues to receive the Holy Eucharist weekly but hasn’t been to Confession in decades? When I have tried to gently broach the topic in the past while having discussions about some sins that he is struggling with related to our marriage, he refuses to listen to anything about Confession and feels he doesn’t “need” to go. He just gets very angry and walks away. He also will not talk with a Priest about it, and I’m at a loss as to what, if anything, I should do since it seems like it must be a sacrilege to me.
I’ve been praying for him in this regard for a few years now and will continue to pray and have also told him how beneficial Confession is for me, but every time he gets up to receive Communion at Mass I feel so hurt inside. However, I don’t want to “judge” him either.
Thanks for any (name removed by moderator)ut you might be able to provide.
