She* obviously* saw them on a wiccan website? It would be obvious if I was looking at the (Wiccan) source or if the wording used typically are those found in wiccan rituals. There is no problem with reading from the bible. Why would you re-purpose a wiccan prayer, though? The girl was the one who looked them up. She obviously saw them on a wiccan website. Why would you want to make that ok by just re-wording them a bit? That’s wrong, and that makes it seem to the girl like wicca and catholicism compatible, when they are not. I would not touch the prayers. For that matter, the girl needs to stay away from their websites. It’s a danger to her soul.
You act as though wicca is innocuous, when it’s really a tool of evil. Besides, you should never pose a prayer talking to a dead animal. It’s DEAD. They have no immortal souls. These prayers are meant to “talk” to the soul of the animal, which goes against Church teaching. Who are they talking to then? I don’t want to find out.
Go with reading the psalms. I said nothing about blessing the ground, only about reading the bible. She isn’t acting the part of the priest. It’s an animal, for goodness sake. It’s not wrong, and she’s not blessing.
And, again, anyone can change the words so they do not “talk” to the animal. I hope it doesn’t bother you that I tell my cat I miss it.
Please notice that I said I had more of a problem with it but not that I thought it was wrong and I ackowledged that that isn’t what they are doing. Sheesh. Also, the OP reffered to it as blessing the area so I was referencing that. You are reading way more into what I am saying so you can make points that I don’t disagree with you on. I will not continue to waste time arguing about things we agree on so you can make declarations as though I have no clue or suggest I believe something I don’t, even when I said the opposite.
BTW, I’ve changed Catholic (spiritual warfare) prayers because the say “I bind” or “I take authority” because I don’t think that is a very safe thing to do. I used the words from similar prayers the ask God or St. Michael/holy angles to do the binding of spirits and substitute. These are not traditional prayers by any means; I don’t mess with those. One can’t improve on perfection. Can we can agree on that?
