So, I’ve been praying the Rosary a few times.
At first, as a new convert, I thought I’d give it a try, since it’s so important in the Catholic Church. Besides, I just happened upon one, in my mother’s study - she is Ortodhox, but a friend gave it to her upon returning from Italy - I asked about it and she said I could have it.
In the parish church I go to Sunday Mass, there is always a group Rosary being prayid before Mass, so I try to get there half an hour early and join in.
As of late, I felt the need to give Mother Mary and the Rosary more importance - my aim is to do it on a daily basis.
However, upon trying to do it “by the book” I came to the realisation that I cannot concentrate, simultaneously, on two things - the Hail Mary and the mystery. I need your help with that.
The way I see it (the way I try to do it) - I always concentrate fully on the Hail Mary, for example, at “blessed is the fruit of thy womb” I try to raise my thoughts to Jesus and how he was born into this world for us, at "pray for us sinners’ I try to remember briefly my sins and to express remorse, I try to put all of my love and apreciation into each “Hail” (I pray in Romanian, and the opening word is “Rejoice” etc. etc.etc. I could concentrate on the mystery and just recite the prayer words, but I feel it would just be empty repetitions.
But, of course, while fully concentrating on the Hail Mary, I cannot meditate on the mystery. So I try to give the mystery a thought, between the Hail Mary’s. Is that ok, or should I strive for meditating on the mystery during the Hail Mary, as well ?
