Hi all,

Yes, although Jesus was to be born from the line which Rahab was part of, I have a wonder about something.

As Rahab was asked to protect the spies and military of Israel, why was it acceptable to God that Rahab completely violate His commandment against lying? This is very confusing to me on so many levels but, just to scratch the surface with the most obvious, why was Rahab’s lying acceptable.

And yes, if this opens up a whole plethora of other interwoven issues, please proceed with whatever can of worms this question and subsequent answers opens.

Thanks

Because God said so (so to speak). God gave the laws, God is the one to determine how/when to provide exceptions to the laws, the laws do not “out rank” God.

The focus is on following God, first…God’s laws (along with many other things) are secondary.

Thanks! That’s quite an eye-opener. This helps make even clearer the entire necessity for Jesus. Jesus is the absolute proof and message that the laws do not trump God nor His Will nor His authority. Furthermore, yes, this makes the point even more obvious that the Law was and is inadequate.
