Question about Rosaries

I wasn’t sure of how to word the title and I also wasn’t sure of what forum to post this topic in. If it needs to be moved, please do so.

I have several rosaries that were given to me by my dad. He wasn’t sure of how he got them, but I’m assuming they were from other family member who have passed on.

Some of them are broken.

Others are fine.

One has been repaired, but is incomplete (one of the decades only has 7 beads).

I would like to repair all of these rosaries. If I find rosary “parts” (for lack of a better word), and repair them, I’m assuming I should get the rosary blessed? I don’t know if these rosaries have been blessed before (I’m assuming they were, but I really don’t know).

Is there a problem with getting a rosary re-blessed if I’m not sure if it’s been blessed before?

Does anyone know of where I can purchase rosary parts? (Crucifixes to be specific). I’m sure I can get beads from the local jewelry/bead store.

Is there a proper way to store these rosaries? I think I have about 7 or 8 of them. I always carry a rosary on me, so I guess I can rotate them, but I’m really attached to the one I have.

One of the rosaries has a cross and it looks like Jesus USED to be on the cross (He’s missing). Is this rosary still okay to use, or should I replace that crucifix as well?

I am not sure about the specifics, but I’ll share what I learned.

If a Rosary broke down, it must be blessed again. That doesn’t mean you cannot use it, but it is always better to have our sacramentals blessed.

I don’t think there is a problem with asking the priest or deacon to bless your sacramental again if you are unsure whether it was already blessed.

There are little Rosary bags and boxes that are very nice. While a tiny bag is more comfortable if you want to carry the Rosary with you, a box may preserve it better.

Your last phrase is amusing indeed I don’t know if the Rosary is required to have the Crucifix or if the cross alone is fine. It is to me a wonderful sign of the Resurrection, but if you want to use it to pray you may have to repair it, maybe.

LOL - I went back and read that last sentence and believe me, it wasn’t intended to be funny, but it sure is. My bad.

You may have to look around the site to find what you need. And you may not want to buy in that quantity. If you have a Catholic Store around, they might be able to help you.

I would also have them blessed.

When I asked to have my Mom’s rosary blessed, I just told the deacon that I didn’t know if it had been blessed.

I have bought rosary “parts” from E-bay. The majority of the sellers don’t have a minimum order of say 10 crucifixes or whatever.

ebay has some of the best deals. You can also locate the missing parts from a craft or bead store. There are hundreds online. You can also look for incomplete rosaries on ebay and create your own with the missing parts. As long as the finished product is blessed before you use it, there is nothing that can’t be done with a bit of creativity.
